Navigating the New Scratchcard Cap

The National Lottery operator, Allwyn, has introduced a new measure to cap in-store Scratchcard purchases, limiting transactions to no more than 10 Scratchcards, from October 1st 2024.

This change follows a similar limit introduced for authorised online retailers earlier this year in February. The goal, to promote responsible gaming and safeguard players from excessive play, in line with Allwyn’s commitment to fostering a safe and trusted environment for National Lottery participants.

Amid these changes, Serve Legal is aware of the challenges that can come with changing compliance regulations, for business, staff and customers alike. Serve Legal are also aware of the unique challenges faced by retailers across sectors, from the smallest of local conveniences to the largest national supermarket retailers.
