Avarie Anne Tierney, a 21-year-old student from America, tragically lost her life to anaphylaxis while dining at a restaurant in Rome. Reports indicate that Avarie, who had a severe nut allergy, consumed cashew nuts at a restaurant despite attempting to inform staff of her condition. Despite efforts from local medics, Avarie lost her life.
Too often do we hear heartbreaking stories of lives lost to anaphylactic shock, due to miscommunication or misunderstandings—whether caused by language barriers, lack of confidence, insufficient training, or gaps in awareness.
At Serve Legal, we are dedicated to being part of the solution to these ongoing challenges. Through our Allergywise Audits, developed in collaboration with Anaphylaxis UK, we provide retailers with the tools to demonstrate due diligence, enhance staff training, and create a safer dining environment for everyone.
Dining out should be an inclusive and enjoyable experience, particularly for individuals with food allergies. We’re here to support businesses, offering guidance and advice whenever needed.
The team at Serve Legal is deeply saddened by the news of Avarie’s passing. We wish to entend our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends during this difficult time.
